Job summary:

The Managerof R&D will be directly involved in the technical performance and financial results of the Factory. You will be the primary technical resource for the company and will focus on a wide variety of research and product development activities. Activities will focus on Innovation, Process & Quality Improvement, and Team Management.

I.Job description:

Technical Responsibilities:

•Coordination / Planning:

– Facilitate and build R&D teamoCoordinate resources in term of time / material / personal function of project prioritization

– Manage co-manufacturing project (Planning / Evaluation / Implementation)

– Taking charge of the Business Unit, which responsibilities include New Product Development such as formulation development / testing, packaging development and sourcing of suppliers/materials.

– Keeping abreast of emerging markets trends and technology advancement, selection of new ingredients and product design.

– Working seamlessly with the marketing, sales, engineering and procurement team to meet, translate and evaluate the consumer needs into products of the highest quality.

•Innovation:

– Will work in synergy with manufacturing and marketing for development and manufacturing of new products

– Will be a force of proposition for new concept and ideas

•Quality Improvement:

– Will be familiar with all aspects of plant operations and products produced. This includes but will not be limited to product specifications, production techniques and methods, raw materials, ingredients, etc.

– Communicating with the plants (Factory Manager and Quality Managers), ensures that the new products and improved existing products processes are properly used, which will ensure that product quality conforms to company and regulatory standards

•Knowledge:

– Will maintain active knowledge of current developments in Food process/production technology. Will maintain active contact with both industrial and academic experts to maintain knowledge base regarding food processing research and development. Will be encouraged to develop novel applications and techniques for current and future products.

•Personnel Management:

– Set and monitor reasonable policies and goals for the staff

– Monitor the progress of the R&D department, reporting any noteworthy concerns

– Provide structure and oversight for the training and development of all staff members

– Conduct annual performance evaluations of all staff.

•Confidentiality:

– Upholds all rules pertaining to confidentiality of information regarding all company products and recipes

II.Requirement

– Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemical Process Technology or equivalent

– Minimum 5-8 year’s R&D, production,or QC experience in the F&B industry

– Knowledge of HACCP, quality concepts and technical knowledge in food processing is an advantage

– Strong interest in Product and Process development

– Team player with good communication skills

– Should have ability to scale up pilot plant research work to industrial scale production

– Knowledge of western food preparation in industry is a plus.

– Strong Food manufacturing processes

– Strong Microbiology knowledge

– Mathematics knowledge including statistics.

– Strong Communication skills to communicate direction to staff members

– Knowledge of legal right and protection of company know-how

– Strong Computer skills with a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for report writing and presentations.
